Green nanotechnology is the application of nanotechnology to green engineering principles that involves the manipulation of materials at the nanometre scale. Maintaining and improving soil, water, and air quality are among the most difficult challenges confronting global society in the twenty-first century. Pollutants from a wide range of sources, including oil and chemical spills, pesticide and fertiliser runoff, abandoned industrial and mining sites, and airborne gaseous and particulate matter from automobiles, aggravate the situation on a daily basis.
